Drills Between Drills

As a coach, I have over 800+ drills on file that I’ve used over my career.

But just like many coaches, I have 20 or so favorites that I use time and time again.

Some focus more on skill development, some more on conceptual/tactical execution and some more on developing team systems & strategies.

And some are just plain old FUN.

I wanted to share 6 short drills with you that I use in between longer drills to insert more FUN, hard work and skill into a session.

Partner Over Line Stick Battles – always a favorite!
Partner Heel To Heel Tag – great skill/compete drill!
Army Crawl Conditioning – much harder than it looks!
Butt Pull Conditioning – also much harder than it looks!
Across Ice British Bulldog – without sticks, with sticks or with pucks
Knockout – change the size dimensions to increase difficulty

As a coach, I like to have some consistency from practice to practice so my players may do the same drills – with slight variations – for a few weeks in a row. This helps to build confidence and consistency in execution.

Using short “drills between drills” like this allow you to switch it up a bit without making big changes to your practice plan.

Enjoy and feel free to share with any friends, teammates or coaches that might be interested in using these to bring a little more magic into their practices.

Work Hard. Dream BIG.

Your friend and coach,

Kim
