Incredibly Inspirational Interview

BEAUTIFUL is the word I would choose to describe the 5th episode of the Total Female Hockey Podcast.

In it, we share a truly amazing story of a PHOENIX rising out of the ashes of some heartbreaking hardships on and off the ice to build an amazing life that is still very much connected to the world of women’s hockey.

In this episode, I chat with Kasumi Kobo, founder of Kaptured By Kobo, and we share her whole hockey story from:

  • Leaving her home in Japan to play in Canada as a teenager
  • To becoming the captain of her Junior team
  • To being a recruited university athlete
  • To founding & running her own successful business at age 23

But Kobo’s road to success on and off the ice was VERY FAR FROM EASY.

Her successes are that much more impressive when you hear about the incredible hardships she had to overcome in her teenage years while she was thousands of miles from home.

In this 90 minute episode, we highlight how all that darkness has led her into her light today. This chat is full of amazing stories and beautiful vulnerability. You will instantly understand why Kobo has been, and continues to be, an inspiration to young players, teammates, entrepreneurs and yours truly for years. I’ve had a front row seat to this whole story as the coach who invited Kobo over to Canada to play almost 8 years ago and I consider her to be way more than a former player or good friend – she is family.

DISCLAIMER: In this episode, we discuss challenging subject matter such as depression, anxiety and death. If you think this might be triggering for you or anyone listening with you, please feel free to skip this episode. The 1st 15 minutes & last 29 minutes are easier listening, so you can always just stick to those bits if you still want to hear some of Kobo’s awesome story. If you decide this episode isn’t for you, I hope you’ll join us for the next one!
