Talent vs Skill Gap in Girls Hockey

Total Female HockeyThe difference between talent and skill in girls hockey is one of the most misunderstood concepts for someone who is trying to take their game to the next level.
Talent is something girls hockey players have naturally.

Skill is only developed by hours and hours of working on your game on and off the ice.

The truth is that you can be the most naturally talented player in the world, but if you aren’t willing to work at developing your skill each and every day, your natural talent will ultimately fail you.

On the other hand, if you aren’t the most naturally talented player on your team, but you are dedicated to constantly developing your skill, you can not only make up for that lack of natural ability, but you can surpass those “naturals” who aren’t willing to put in the time and energy needed to take their game to the next level.

Becoming the best female hockey player possible is like putting up a brick wall.

You can’t put up a brick wall without hard work and patience.

You can be the most naturally talented bricklayer in the world, but just having the ability and the desire to build the best wall ever won’t accomplish much.

You have to take action every single day to lay each brick as perfectly as possible.

If you stay committed to adding one more brick every day that moves you closer to your ultimate goal, you will eventually have a perfect wall in place.

I always want you to work hard and dream BIG, but you need to think of your progress towards becoming the best player possible in terms of laying down these perfect bricks.

Which “brick” are you going to put in place today?

~ Kim
